Exporting your work
Everything you put into Nydli is yours, and you can take a copy whenever you want. There's no ceremony and nothing to ask for.
The whole workspace, as one file
Settings → Data → Download this workspace gives you one zip with everything in the workspace you're in: categories, tasks, subtasks, descriptions, labels, dates and logged hours.
Inside you'll find:
workspace.json, which holds everything in a format a program can read, so another tool can take it in.time-entries.csv, every hour you've logged, as a spreadsheet.tasks/, one document per task in folders that match your categories, so you can open and read them all without any software but a text editor.README.md, which says what's in the file and what isn't.files/, the attachments themselves, when you ask for them.
We leave colours and icons out. They mean nothing outside Nydli.
Only the workspace owner and admins can download it, because the file holds every member's tasks and not just your own.
Files and images
You choose. Before you download, Nydli tells you how many files are on the tasks here and what they weigh, and you pick whether to take none of them, only the small ones under a size you set, or all of them.
The default is none, because the text downloads in seconds and files can be many gigabytes. Whatever you choose, the archive names every file with its size, so you can always see what exists and fetch it later from its own task.
A big download takes a while and arrives as it's built, so leave the tab open until it finishes. A workspace too big to package in one go says so and offers to have us make the file for you.
One task, or the timesheet
For something smaller, you don't need the whole workspace:
- One task: open it and use the Download menu in the top bar. You get PDF, Markdown, plain text or JSON.
- The timesheet: the Export menu on the Timesheet page gives you seven formats, and it exports exactly what the sheet is showing.
Your account, separately
Settings → Data → Download your data is a different thing. You get your profile, your settings, the record of where you've signed in and the emails we've sent you. It doesn't hold your tasks or your hours, because those belong to the workspace rather than to you personally. Use the workspace download for those.
Before you delete anything
If you're closing an account or a workspace, download it first. Deletion has a seven-day window and then the content is gone for good, hours and all. The archive includes archived tasks and anything still in the bin, marked as such, so a copy you take now holds exactly what you're about to lose.
