Connecting an AI assistant

Nydli can let your own AI assistant look things up and make changes in a workspace, if you want it to. It works with Claude, ChatGPT and the other assistants that can connect to outside tools. It's off by default, and nothing happens until you switch it on.

We haven't built any AI into Nydli. We never send what you write anywhere to be analysed, and an assistant only sees your work once you connect one yourself.

Only the Owner can turn it on​

You'll find the switch in Settings → Data → MCP server, named after the standard the assistants use to connect. When you turn it on, we ask for your account password, because it lets something outside Nydli into your workspace. Everybody in the workspace can see when it's on.

It comes in two modes:

  • Read only. The assistant can look up your tasks, categories, labels and tracked time.
  • Read and write. It can also create and change tasks, categories and labels, and archive them.

We never let it delete anything, or put anything in the Bin. We do let it archive, because you can always undo that.

Changes an assistant makes look like they came from the person who connected it, and they show in the Activity log that way.

It can only see what you can see​

A connection takes your role and your access level, so a Limited member's assistant sees what a Limited member sees. If a workspace is frozen or archived, the assistant can read it but not change anything, the same as you.

How you connect one​

The same page gives you an address to copy. Paste it into your assistant's settings for connecting to other tools, and it sends you to Nydli to sign in. Then it asks your permission and names the site it's connecting from, and once you approve, it's connected.

Connected AI assistants on the same page tells you what's connected, and when you last used it. Revoke cuts one off straight away. The Owner sees every connection in the workspace, and everybody else sees their own.
