Close, archive or delete?
Three ways to get a task out of your way. Pick by what should happen to it afterwards.
Close — "I'm done working on this"
The everyday way to finish a task. It disappears from your lists, calendar and search, but its logged time stays on the timesheet. Turn on Show closed tasks in the filter to see closed tasks again, and reopen one with a single click.
Example: You finished writing the newsletter — close the task.
Archive — "Done for good, keep the record"
For work you will never touch again but want proof of. Archived tasks are hidden everywhere — even from Show closed tasks — but they are never deleted, and their time always counts on your timesheet. They live on the Archive page, and unarchiving brings them right back. Archiving a category archives everything inside it.
Example: A client project wrapped up last year — archive the whole category.
Delete — "This shouldn't exist"
For tasks created by mistake or never needed. Deleting moves the task to the Trash, and its logged time leaves your timesheet immediately. You can restore it — time included — for 30 days; after that, the task and its time are gone for good.
Example: You accidentally created a duplicate — delete it.
