Templates
An empty app is hard to judge. Settings → Templates fills the workspace with a ready-made setup so you can see every corner of Nydli with something in it, and then take out whatever you don't want to keep.
What you get
You get a card per kind of business, from a design agency to a photographer to a personal trainer. Each one says who it suits and how it's put together, and See what it looks like shows you the List view before you commit to anything. Pick whichever is closest to your own line of work. They all work the same way underneath.
Whichever you pick arrives in your language, with:
- a category tree shaped the way that business actually runs
- tasks with dates, colours, descriptions and labels, including a couple due today so the Dashboard has something to show
- the label system in both its shapes: a field with values, put only on the work where the question is real, and a plain Urgent tag
- a year of tracked time, spread across realistic working days, so the Timesheet reads properly for a week, a month and a year
- a few favourites, starred for you
You need to be the workspace owner or an admin, because importing a template creates labels.
Swapping one for another
One template at a time. Importing a second one asks first, and says what it takes with it. The first template's tasks and categories go to the Bin, your own changes to them included, and its labels go for good. Then the new one comes in.
Getting rid of it again
Delete on the imported card asks what goes. Two things always go: the generated hours, so the Timesheet never counts time nobody worked, and the "Example data" labels.
Everything else is a tick-box, because people keep it:
- The tasks move to the Bin, where you can still restore them for 30 days. Keep them and they become your own, with no hours on them.
- The categories go to the Bin with everything in them, including anything you added yourself. Keeping the tasks keeps the categories too.
- The other labels the import made, meaning the template's own field and the Urgent tag, go for good, because labels have no bin. Any sub-labels you added underneath go with them.
Anything you keep stops being example data and becomes yours. So untick everything and you've kept the whole setup as your own, with the Timesheet starting from zero.
Already have real work somewhere?
Then a template is the wrong tool. Import the real thing instead. See Import from ClickUp.
