Getting started

First sign-in

The first time you sign in, Nydli asks a few quick questions: your workspace name (if you own the workspace), theme, language, date and time formats, week start and time zone. Everything can be changed later in Settings, so don't overthink it.

Categories are your structure

The sidebar on the left holds your Categories — folders for your work, as deep as you like. A common shape is one category per client with projects underneath, but any structure works:

Fjordvik Bakery
├── Brand identity
└── Website
Internal
└── Admin

Create one with + New in the sidebar. Each category row has a menu for renaming, moving, copying and more, and you can drag categories to reorder or nest them.

Tasks are the work

Click a category and add your first task — either the New task button in the header or the add-task row at the bottom of the list. A task opens in an editor panel where you can set dates, a color and icon, labels, a description and more. There is no Save button: everything saves as you type.

See Working with tasks for the full tour.

Track your first hours

Open a task and start the timer. When you stop it, the time lands on your Timesheet under the task's category — already grouped and summed. That's the heart of Nydli: you track, the report exists.

Want to explore with sample data?

Settings → Example data imports a fictional small business — categories, tasks, labels and a year of tracked time — so you can see every part of the app populated. It's tagged with an "Example data" label and can be removed completely (or partially, keeping what you want) at any time.
